Womb cancer is also called uterine cancer, or endometrial cancer, referring to the inner lining of the womb. Endometrial cancer is the most common type of womb cancer and develops when the cells of the womb lining begin to proliferate and get out of control. They can attack all nearby tissues and spread to other parts of the body. Sometimes these tumors are benign and should not be confused with the malignant type as they could be fibroids and are not cancerous. These fibroids can cause vaginal bleeding, discharge, and pain, and surgery may then be an option. Read the rest of this entry »

Did you know that your doctor is not allowed to tell you about any herbal or natural products that could help you to beat the killer cancer. These are regulations set down by the drug companies and a doctor could lose his licence to practice if he was to tell you about any of these products.

Cancer has taken lives for generations with no known cure, it can be controlled to a certain extent in the early days with chemotherapy and other known drugs but it is not always a cure.

Cancer cells grow in the body and to have any hope of recovery these cells must be destroyed. Chemotherapy does destroy the cells but it also weakens your immune system which means the cancer cells can reoccur after a certain length of time. Read the rest of this entry »

A healthy diet is a precaution against a variety of diseases. And nutritionists say that the diet should include a portion of dietary fiber, especially for women who want to avoid the risk of breast cancer. Researchers have, over the decades, focused on the relation between dietary fiber and breast cancer.

Western and Asian diets were compared in such studies where it was found that breast cancer was rarer in Asian countries because the diet was higher in fiber and low on fat as compared to Western diets. The theory was that estrogen leads to the development of breast cancer. A low-fat high-fiber diet reduces the production of estrogen while simultaneously increasing the excretion of this hormone by the body. Dietary fiber may also lead to a reduction in the absorption of toxic chemicals and in this manner reduces the risk of breast cancer. Read the rest of this entry »

Sickle cell disease is a type of blood disorder that affects the red blood cells. Normally, red blood cells are round and move around the body through small tubes delivering oxygen. In sickle cell disease the red blood cells become rigid and gluey and take on the shape of sickles. This happens because of a material in the red blood cells, which actually carries the oxygen.

A small change in this matter results in the hemoglobin forming long rods in the cell when distributing oxygen. These rods cause the sickle shape. They cause an obstruction in the blood flow so body tissues and organs are deprived of oxygen. This can cause terrible pain, which is known as the sickle cell crisis. Read the rest of this entry »

A study released recently says that if vitamin D intake is increased it may reduce the risk of developing cancer.

The findings are the latest in a growing list of evidence confirming that the ongoing guidelines related to diet of vitamin D may be very low.

For the moment, until more research and studies are conducted in this field this new finding should be viewed as basic and priliminary and therefore should not be treated as a definite reason to drastically increase vitamin D in any form especially by way of supplements, in an effort to prevent or reduce the chances of getting cancer. The only way to know one is suffering from brain cancer is through a proper test done by a doctor.
