I have wondered about the relationship of cancer and coffee. I am a stage 2 cancer patient and love a cup of coffee; but recently I have researched anti-cancer diets on the web and have not found one that advocates the consumption of coffee. Most don't mention java at all but the late Dr. Moerman whose anti-cancer diet is acknowledged to have the same % rate of cure as do radiation/chemotherapy is emphatic that coffee is to be avoided at all cost due to its acidity -- the environment that cancer cells love. He ranks coffee as one of the "prohibited" products in his rating sequence behind "essential", "good", "allowable," and "in small amounts."

With cancer being the 2 leading cause of death, I want to see it cured. I don't know if this is completely possible, but we do have a a beginning. We can learn and educate about the signs and symptoms of cancer in order to achieve earlier diagnoses. Some cancers are curable if found early enough. This is why I yearn to teach the signs of cancer! Thank you for this sight and please continue to teach!

Yes, you may have a child. That doesn't mean that your chance wasn't decreased by your coffee habit. Learn how statistics works before you go about getting angry.

Gee I drink and eight shot latte every morning and I have a 12 year old son. So much for the sluggish sperm and the inability to conceive. As far as birth defects and miscarriages that is strictly from women that drink coffee during pregnancy. Before you start spouting (supposed) facts off why not try and so some research first. What a concept!! I think that drinking plenty of milk during your youth is probably more important. My mother hated milk and still does to this day. She has osteoporosis but yet still drinks coffee and is 76 years old and WORKS!!!

There is a book by David Servan-Schreiber who is an MD and a PhD and who also has brain cancer. He makes an arguement for why we have so much cancer now and it mainly has to do with the foods we eat and all of the processing and chemicals that go into them. If your friends Mom has a chance have her check it out. Go to the library or a book store and look at it if she doesn't want to have to buy it.

I had colon cancer that metastisized to the liver. I used to drink coffee on a regular basis for years before I was diagnosed. So it may help some people, but obviously not everyone. One of the bad things about coffee is that it is acidic and cancer cannot live in an alkaline enviroment. There is a ton of information out there and much of it is conflicting.
