Why Does Bone Cancer Develop?

Fewer people are diagnosed with bone cancer than with other kinds of cancer, as it is very rare (about 0.2%). This kind of cancer can affect any bone in any part of the body. Bone cancer can also be a result of any other type of cancer in the body metastasizing or spreading to the bones. Why Kids Get Cancer?

It is true that there are not as many instances of kids getting cancer as adults, but they do. Kids do get cancer & it can also be cured in most cases. With each passing year survival rate of kids has been going up because of medical researches & breakthroughs.

Kids get cancer when cells go through an abnormal rate of growth and division, just as in adults. Thus the reason why cancer happens is alike for everyone. When cells that are not normal, they grow and spread fast in the affected part of our body and the result is cancer. Normal body cells grow and divide and know when to stop growing. You’ve heard the term usually used in connection with the diagnosis of cancer. But how much do you really know about what a biopsy is? To start with: once cancer is suspected the physician will suggest that a biopsy be carried out to determine if a cancer in a particular organ is present. It’s a procedure wherein a piece of soft tissue or fluid or bone is taken from the relevant part of the body of a patient and given to the laboratory/pathologist for analysis of a particular type of cancer. Oral Sex and Throat Cancer Link – A Report

The news about study conducted and report published by certain well known and well respected research bodies linking Oral Sex and Throat Cancer, is spreading and splashing across the net and doing crazy rounds.

The findings at Johns Hopkins University confirm that oral sex is a risk factor for throat cancer, although the risk may be relatively small. They found a link between HPV and Throat Cancer. Is the Spinal Cord Prone to Cancer?

The spinal cord is part of the central nervous system and, yes, like any other part of the body it too can develop cancer, though it is extremely rare.

A mass of cells growing within or around the spinal cord is a spinal tumor. The cells may also spread from other sites in the body. Most times, spinal tumors grow between the membranes and the bones of the spinal cord. If they are primary in origin they start in the spine while secondary tumors spread or metastasize from the breast, lungs, or thyroid. Doctors have not yet been able to establish what causes primary spinal tumors—one theory being that they are linked to genetic defects. Primary tumors spread more slowly than secondary tumors. If you or someone you know is going through menopause and the doctor suggests HRT – i.e. Hormone Replacement Treatment. Before taking the treatment its better know how will it affect your overall health. Some researches suggest that Hormone Replacement Treatment during menopause may increase risk of several types of cancer. We shall discuss each one of them vis-à-vis taking Hormone Replacement Treatment.

Hormone Replacement Treatment is a therapy involves female sex hormones to replace hormones that the patient’s body has stopped producing after menopause. Doctors at one point of time thought that HRT acted as a shield and protected against heart diseases but after some more researches it has been proved that Hormone Replacement Treatment doesn’t help reduce risk related to heart.
