The primary treatment for breast cancer is surgery which removes the cancer. There are three major types of surgery. First one being Breast Conserving Surgery wherein either a lumpectomy or partial mastectomy is done to remove part of the breast that is affected.

The second treatment is Mastectomy where the entire breast is removed. And the third treatment is where the lymph nodes affected with cancer are removed and it is called Axillary Nodes Dissection.

Patients whose breast cancer is detected while still in primary stage can opt for Breast Conserving Surgery. If the cancer is at an advanced stage doctors may suggest the patient to opt for Mastectomy. At the time of surgery, most patients also have opt for Axillary Nodes Dissection to check if cancer has spread to the lymph nodes. Such a procedure removes lymph nodes from the armpit to test them for cancer cells.

People also opt for twot types of treatments to fight breast cancer.Combining treatment is also known as adjuvant therapy. When alternate treatment is performed after the surgery – the basic treatment, it helps to distroy the rmaining cancer cells. Sometimes such treatments are also performed before surgery.

Treatment for breast cancer also depends on the individual. Whether the cancer patient has is an aggressive type or not. Whether the woman has gone through menopause, and many such factors help a women decide which typr of treatmetn will she go for.
