I am now a sixty-five year old caucasian male, and I have been using Sucralose (Splenda) almost exclusively since the year 2000 (right after I had quadruple by-pass surgery), and I have had zero known effects from it. I still consume regular food including pasta, but place limits my simple carb intake; I do use complex carbs. I recently quit drinking soda with Splenda because of the phosphoric acid used in colas, but substituted diet green tea or ginger tea with Splenda, and get decalf when possible. I follow Dr. Oz somewhat, but not exclusively, I have moderate exercise, and I take vitamin supplements too; including 2500IU of extra vitamin D3 daily. Also, I do not smoke or use any form of tobacco. My alcohol intake is limited to Passover or an occasional (sip or two); I am not Jewish, but like Magen David Pomegranate wine.

So far (after eleven years) I am cancer free, still capable of making love unassisted, and have extra low LDL cholesterol. Moreover, my IQ is still near 176, my vision is approximately 20/30 and uncorrected. I do not suffer from migraines, brittle bones or GERT. My triglycerides are a little bit high, because I am not a strict vegetarian, but I do use Extra Virgin Olive Oil (EVOO) when I fry (eggs, french toast, etc).
I am not saying that a day of reckoning isn't coming, because type 2 diabetes does run in my mother's side of the family, but as of now I have avoided it. Maybe, just maybe, it is not Splenda that is to blame, as some claim, for cancers, etc., but LIFESTYLE. Well, I gotta go and walk my two sweet and loving Red Nosed Pitbulls. They adore me so !

Are there any other websites you would suggest viewing in regards to Splenda's "link to cancer"?

I still have heard so much about Splenda being linked to brain cancer. Are there any other artificial sweetners available that are not linked to any type of deleterious side effects?

Thanks,
Janine
