Prevention is better than cure and it applies to cancer also. We’d rather live and lead a healthy life by sticking to certain rules than having to worry later about such serious dieseases that we assumed can never hit us.

Anything and verything can trigger cancer germs or viruses. We can catch them from environment, from exessive drinking, genes or other reasons researchers are working on to find what exactly causes it. And more importantly why out of two people living in similar environment only one gets it. What is the metabolism of the person who did not get it and can such a state of body can be attained or is it something one is born with.

Experts and scientists are studying the disease all the time and do come up with some path breaking news in the process. Right from what could trigger cancer to symptoms and treatments.

Yet again a landmark story has been published in Cancer Research. Professor of Food Science and Human Nutrition at the University of Illinois, John Erdman has found that tomatoes and broccoli, vegetables known for cancer-fighting properties are far more effective in combating prostrate cancer when both are made a part of everyday diet.
The only other alternate or parallel treatment that can be compared to the tomato & broccoli diet is castration. But again this is not a preferred choice for most men inspite of the fact that it reduces and repairs prostrate cancer to a significant extent. It’s a landmark finding that a diet can be compared to such a surgery and the outcome of result can be almost similar.

The researchers suggest that ageing men with slow-growing prostate cancer, people who have experienced waiting in anxiety over treatments like chemotherapy and radiation are advised to seriously consider re-arranging their diets and include more tomatoes and broccoli in their diet.

For a 50 year old male approximately 2.5 cups of fresh tomato, 1.4 cups of raw broccoli, and 1 cup of tomato sauce or alternatively 1/2 cup of tomato paste daily is the suggested diet. Study also suggests that eating tomatoes and broccoli is better than eating similar supplement and also that cooked tomaotoes and broccoli are better than eating them raw as far as takign advantage of their cancer fighting properties are concerned.

To make the menu interesting one can keep fixing interesting items. Like tomaot soup and broccoli florets combination lunch. Adding them both as a topping in pizza. Sauting and adding them in the vegetable of your choice. The point is include generous servings of both broccoli and tomatoes in your everyday life.
