Some people suffer terribly from migraines. This is a very debilitating condition that affects the overall life of victims. They have to go through life always afraid of bright lights or mistakenly eating a wrong food. After the initial diagnosis there is often a period of noncomprehension on the patient’s part as well as the family’s.
There is a definite decrease in the quality of life of sufferers—no matter how mild or infrequent the attack. For those who suffer from very severe migraines they literally have to battle on in life. Some people are unable to retain their jobs and become depressed and even suicidal as they think there is no way out of their predicament.
A migraine attack can involve a throbbing head, nausea, and sensitivity to loud noises or bright lights. So if you suffer from headaches that can be termed migraine then you need to know how to control it. What are the factors that trigger migraines? It could be some kinds of food like dairy products or chocolates, citrus fruits and alcohol, foods containing nitrates and monosodium glutamate; stress and anxiety are another cause; smoking can cause migraines; some people are affected by sunlight as they are photosensitive. Lack of food and extreme hunger can also cause migraines. Dieting and strenuous exercises without proper nutrition can trigger migraine.
For some people migraine could be hereditary, so, if this is established earlier on in their lives, they could take steps to prevent having attacks. However, they will still need to identify what triggers an attack in their case. Too much sleep or a lack of sufficient sleep can lead to these headaches.
So once you have established that your headaches are indeed migraines then you have to monitor your consumption to find out what kind of food triggers an attack. However, you cannot disallow every kind of food from your diet as that would take away from the nutritional value of what you eat. So take a physician’s advice and slowly phase out certain foods that you think affect you.
If it is not a food then you are free from the worry of watching what you eat. Then it could be that you fast or diet too much and the hunger causes the migraine. Keep a diary of your activities and you can identify the causes of your migraine. Each person has their own individual trigger. It is up to you to identify them over time and then address the situation. Take a doctor’s help to come to your decision.
