Do not let the fact that studies show fibroids are not cancer. All reports show that growing fibroids in a post menapausal women is a red flag and should be deemed cancerous LMS is a deadly rare cancer foind only aftrer a hysterectomy. My sister is dying because of medical neglect. She was 56 and her fibroids grew 2-3 centimeters in a few months. The OBGYN never once thought about cancer there fore had my sister hysterectomy done laproscopily. when they went in they found her utereous to be huge but again without questioning they began to slice the rock hard fibroids out. Both signs for cancer were present and ignored. Then to our horror the pathologist sent back a report that they were benign. Three months later she esperience bloating and pain. Still no concern untill a scan found masses in her abdoman. The doctor said hmmm thats odd and they sent my sister to an oncologist. Surgery found tumors many of them. These were removed with a hopefull wide margin and sent home. The pathology was devesating my sister was diagnosed with a rare and deadly cancer LeioMyoSarcoma. The pathology from the first hysterctomy was recalled and there in the fibroids was the cancer. The pathologist made a mistake oh and she was fired. My sister met with a sarcoma specialist who gave her the news that these tumors may return. Before anytreatment could be arranged my sister was rushed to the hospital. The tumors returned with a vengeance one measuring almost 10 inches. She waited for almost a week to get any answers in excruciating pain. When dr. kaplan returned he told her the pathologist made a mistake and she is now terminal. He also told her has had only three patients with sarcoma, so he was not qualified for this rare disease. All research shows time is of essence and treatment needs to be by a LMS specialist. In my opinion I hold the OBGYN to the oncologist responsable for my sisters death. Never assume your doctors know and never ler them tell you fibroids can not be cancerous. if only 4 in 1 million get this then do not let it be you.
