Are Blood Sugar And Cancer Linked?

An early study by Swedish research group found that women who had blood sugar were at an increased risk of getting cancer than those who did not have blood sugar. It found that whether or not women had diabetes, with blood sugar the risk of getting cancer was more as compared to people who did not suffer blood sugar.

But later with more researches it was found that men and women both were at an increased risk of getting some typical types of cancer if they had sugar. Cancers like, pancreatic cancer, urinary tract cancer, and the most dangerous form of skin cancer, malignant melanoma. People with high blood sugar are more likley to be affected by it than those with no or low blood sugar levels. Read the rest of this entry »

The vast value of honey has been known since ancient times, as evidenced in the Bible and other documents. While discussing the after effects or side effects of chemotherapy during cancer, hair loss and nausea are what comes to our minds most often. But there is more to it and therefore it is worth knowing that other than the above two there are many other side effects to chemotherapy. It can cause and result in the problems in the mouth like, mouth sores, infections, dry mouth, bleeding in the lining of the mouth and gums etc. During chemotherapy eating and swallowing food may also become difficult for the patient, which can cause nutritional deficiencies also. Protect Yourself from Cervical Cancer

Cervical cancer is probably one of the most unknown and unfamiliar types of cancer despite that it is the fifth most frequent cancer in women based on the number of deaths. A large percentage of the women population has never heard nor has very little knowledge of what it is. Early stages of cervical cancer show almost no symptoms and is very hard to detect once ignored.

Vaginal bleeding, contact bleeding, moderate pain during sexual intercourse, and unusual vaginal discharge are some of the symptoms but these occurrences are usually mistaken for or are disregarded. Advanced stages shows symptoms like loss of appetite, drastic weight loss, over fatigue, pelvic pain, back pain, leg pain, single swollen leg, heavy bleeding from the vagina, and even leaking of urine or feces from the vagina. You must not wait for these advanced symptoms to happen before you go to your doctor. Cancer is an abnormal growth of cells in the body. Human body is made of more than nine to ten trillion cells. They cannot be seen with naked eyes, only under a powerful microscope. Since the growth or division of cells is abnormal, it causes illness. Sometimes this disorder interferes with the functioning of systems; giving feeling of unwell-ness.

Skin Care Against Cancer

Skin cancer has become one of the most common cancers and usually occurs with light colored skin. The parts of the skin that are highly affected are the ones that are directly exposed to the sun. Prevention for this type of cancer is relatively easy compared to the other forms of cancer. Your sun exposure should be minimized during midday between 10:00 am to 3:00 pm and sunscreen must be used.

Sunscreens or sunblocks are lotion that contain one or more chemicals which absorb and scatter UV rays. A higher SPF (Sun Protection Factors) number of the sunscreen indicates a better protection of the skin. Products containing zinc oxide or titanium oxide are the ones that can only totally block UV rays. If you are a person that has a very fair complexion, always burn and never tans, you should use SPF 15 or greater. If you have fair complexion, always burn and tan minimally, you should use SPF 8-15. If you have light to medium complexion and you burn moderately and tan gradually, you should use SPF 6-8. Read the rest of this entry »

So it’s time we learnt to handle stress and fatigue or burn out more effectively.  People somehow tend to find all the wrong things to do to de-stress. They watch Television. Cancer treatments do fight cancer but at the same time they can very well affect and alter your daily schedule. It’s advisable and helps to know about common side effects and deal with them effectively.
